Rosin

Rosin (also resin; Hebrew neophet or possibly tsori) refers to the resinous gum or balm extracted from various trees. In Ezekiel 27:17, Israel and Judah are listed among the trading partners of Tyre, exporting wheat, honey, oil, and "Pannag, and honey, and oil, and balm" — the Hebrew tsori often translated as balm or rosin. The balm of Gilead (Jeremiah 8:22) was also a resinous product prized for its medicinal properties. Resin was used in ancient times as a preservative, sealant, incense ingredient, and trade commodity. The precise identification of the Hebrew terms with specific resinous substances remains uncertain.
