Rumah

Place Name

Name meaning: "exalted; sublime; rejected"

Rumah (meaning exalted, sublime, or rejected) was the home of Pedaiah, whose daughter Zebudah was the mother of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah and king of Judah (2 Kings 23:36). It may be identified with Arumah near Shechem, mentioned in Judges 9:41, or possibly with a site in the vicinity of Galilee. The name appears only in the brief genealogical reference to Jehoiakim's maternal family, which was a common practice in the introductions to the reigns of Judean kings.
