Sabtah

Sabtah (also spelled Sabta) was the third son of Cush, listed in the Table of Nations as a grandson of Ham and great-grandson of Noah (Gen. 10:7; 1 Chr. 1:9). Like his brothers Seba, Havilah, Raamah, and Sabtecha, he is mentioned as a progenitor of peoples in the post-flood world, though the nation or region bearing his name cannot be identified with certainty in the modern landscape. Some scholars have tentatively associated Sabtah with Sabota, an ancient Hadhramaut city in southern Arabia, or with regions along the east African or Arabian coast. As with most of the Table of Nations entries, the primary significance of Sabtah is genealogical — situating him within the broader Hamitic dispersion that populated Africa and parts of the ancient Near East following the flood.
