Sea of Jazer
Place
The Sea of Jazer was a body of water associated with the ancient Ammonite and Gadite city of Jazer, located east of the Jordan in the Gilead region. Jeremiah uses it in his lament over Moab: "I will weep for you with the weeping of Jazer, O vine of Sibmah... your summer fruits and your harvest have fallen" (Jer. 48:32). The exact size and identity of this lake or pool near Jazer remain uncertain; no natural lake of significant size has been identified at the probable site of Jazer, suggesting it may have been an artificial reservoir or a now-vanished body of water.
