Sebat

Sebat (also written Shebat; Hebrew shevat) was the eleventh month of the Hebrew religious calendar and the fifth month of the civil calendar, corresponding approximately to January–February. It is mentioned by name only once in Scripture: "In the eleventh month, which is the month of Sebat, in the second year of Darius" (Zech. 1:7), providing the date of Zechariah's second series of night visions. The name is of Babylonian origin (Shabatu) and was adopted into the Hebrew calendar during the exile. The modern Jewish calendar retains Shevat as its eleventh month, and the festival of Tu BiShvat (the New Year for trees) falls on its fifteenth day.
