Senaah

Senaah was a town in Judah whose residents returned from Babylonian exile in the largest single contingent recorded in the lists of Ezra and Nehemiah: 3,630 individuals in Ezra's list (Ezra 2:35) and 3,930 in Nehemiah's (Neh. 7:38), reflecting either a textual variant or two separate counts. The large number suggests a substantial town of some importance. The "sons of Hassenaah" (Neh. 3:3, with the definite article ha) built the Fish Gate of Jerusalem as part of Nehemiah's rebuilding campaign. The site has not been identified with certainty, though some connect it with Magdalsenna northeast of Jericho.
