Seraiah

Seraiah (meaning "Yahweh is ruler" or "prince of the LORD") was the name of several OT figures. The most prominent was the chief priest who served in Jerusalem when Nebuchadnezzar destroyed the city; he was taken captive to Riblah and executed at Nebuchadnezzar's command (2 Kgs. 25:18–21; Jer. 52:24–27). He was the grandfather of Ezra the scribe (Ezra 7:1). A second Seraiah was David's royal scribe or secretary (2 Sam. 8:17; called Sheva in 2 Sam. 20:25). A third was the "quiet prince" to whom Jeremiah entrusted a scroll prophesying Babylon's fall, with instructions to sink it in the Euphrates as a sign of Babylon's doom (Jer. 51:59–64).
