Shalisha, Land of
Place
The land of Shalisha was a region through which Saul traveled in his search for his father's donkeys before meeting Samuel (1 Sam. 9:4). It is mentioned alongside the hill country of Ephraim and the land of Shalim. Many scholars connect Shalisha with Baal-shalishah (2 Kgs. 4:42), a location in the Ephraimite hill country from which a man brought Elisha twenty loaves of barley. The region may lie in the northern Shephelah or southern Ephraim, but its precise location remains uncertain.
