Shimea

Shimea (meaning: the hearing of prayer or fame) is the name of four distinct individuals in the Old Testament, the most prominent being the third son of David by Bathsheba (called also Shammua), listed in 1 Chronicles 3:5 and 14:4. Another Shimea was a son of David's brother Jesse (1 Chronicles 2:13), making him David's nephew — this figure appears in 2 Samuel 21:21 as the father of Jonathan who slew the Philistine giant of Gath with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot.

A third Shimea was a son of Michael in the Levitical genealogy of Gershom (1 Chronicles 6:39), and a fourth was an ancestor of Asaph the musician through Berechiah (1 Chronicles 6:39). The multiplicity of individuals named Shimea across different families and centuries reflects the name's popularity in ancient Israel.
