Shimron-meron

Shimron-meron is listed in Joshua 12:20 among the thirty-one Canaanite kings defeated by Joshua in the conquest of the land. It is widely regarded as either a variant name or an expanded form of Shimron (also in the list), possibly designating the same city with its associated territory. The suffix -meron may identify the city's ruling king by his eponym, distinguish a distinct urban entity from the simpler Shimron, or reflect a different name tradition for the same site.

Some scholars suggest that Shimron-meron designates a city of the Madon region (since meron may connect to Madon in Joshua 11:1) as distinct from the Zebulunite Shimron. The identification remains uncertain. In any case, its appearance in the defeat list of Joshua 12 places it among the conquered Canaanite city-states of northern Canaan, all of which submitted to Israel's military campaign during the conquest period. Beyond this single reference, the name does not appear elsewhere in the biblical record.
