Shobi

Shobi son of Nahash from Rabbah of the Ammonites was one of three men who showed unexpected kindness to David during his flight from Absalom. Together with Machir son of Ammiel from Lo-debar and Barzillai the Gileadite, Shobi met the weary king at Mahanaim and supplied him with beds, basins, earthen vessels, wheat, barley, flour, parched grain, beans, lentils, honey, curds, sheep, and cheese (2 Samuel 17:27–29). His father Nahash had previously shown kindness to David — Nahash king of Ammon whose son Hanun later humiliated David's envoys, precipitating war. Shobi may have been a brother of Hanun who remained loyal to David and was rewarded with authority over Rabbah after its capture.
