Shomer

Shomer is the name of two biblical individuals. (1.) The mother of Jehozabad, one of the conspirators who assassinated King Joash of Judah (2 Kings 12:21). She is called Shimrith the Moabitess in 2 Chronicles 24:26, suggesting a Moabite origin. (2.) A son of Heber of the tribe of Asher (1 Chronicles 7:32), also called Shemer in verse 34, listed in the Asherite genealogy. The name means keeper or guardian.
