Shua

Person Name

Name meaning: "crying; saving"

Shua is the name of two biblical individuals. (1.) A Canaanite of Adullam whose daughter Judah married, making her the mother of Er, Onan, and Shelah (Genesis 38:2, 12). She is not named individually; Judah married the daughter of a certain Canaanite whose name was Shua. (2.) A daughter of Heber of the tribe of Asher (1 Chronicles 7:32), one of the few women listed in the Asherite genealogy. The name means prosperity or a cry for help.
