Shunammite

Shunammite designates a person from Shunem, a town in the tribe of Issachar. Two Shunammite women are prominent in Scripture. (1.) Abishag the Shunammite was brought to care for the aged David in his last days (1 Kings 1:3, 15); after David's death, Adonijah's request to marry her was treated by Solomon as a bid for the throne and led to Adonijah's execution (1 Kings 2:17–25). (2.) The unnamed great woman of Shunem (2 Kings 4:8–37) who provided lodging and a room for Elisha, whose son Elisha raised from the dead. This same woman later fled to Philistia during a seven-year famine and returned to find her property taken; Elisha's servant Gehazi was telling the king of her son's resurrection when she arrived, and the king restored everything to her (2 Kings 8:1–6).
