Sibbecai
Person
Sibbecai the Hushathite was one of David's thirty mighty warriors (2 Samuel 23:27; 1 Chronicles 11:29) and one of the twelve monthly commanders who oversaw the military rotation of Israel's army (1 Chronicles 27:11). He is particularly remembered for slaying Saph (also called Sippai), one of the descendants of the Rapha — the Philistine giant-warriors — at the battle of Gezer (2 Samuel 21:18; 1 Chronicles 20:4). This battle was one of several in which David's heroes dealt with the remnant of the Philistine giant clans. As a Hushathite, Sibbecai was from Hushah in Judah (1 Chronicles 4:4).
