Silla

Silla is mentioned only once in Scripture, in the account of the assassination of King Joash of Judah: his servants arose and made a conspiracy and struck down Joash at the house of Millo, on the way that goes down to Silla (2 Kings 12:20). The location of Silla is unknown, and no other biblical or extra-biblical text illuminates it. It appears to be a site or descent near the Millo in Jerusalem, possibly a slope or road leading south from the city. The obscurity of the reference suggests it was a specific local landmark recognizable to the original audience but not otherwise significant in the biblical narrative.
