Siloah, The pool of

The pool of Siloah (Siloam) is mentioned in Nehemiah 3:15 as a landmark near the king's garden beside the Fountain Gate, which Shallun son of Col-hozeh repaired during the restoration of Jerusalem's walls. The name is a variant of Siloam (Hebrew Shiloah, meaning sent), the pool fed by the waters channeled through Hezekiah's tunnel from the Gihon Spring. Isaiah 8:6 refers to the waters of Shiloah that flow gently as a figure for the quiet provision of God which Israel despised.
