Sinite

The Sinites were one of the Canaanite peoples descended from Canaan son of Ham (Genesis 10:17; 1 Chronicles 1:15), listed among the eleven peoples of Canaan in the Table of Nations. Their precise territory is uncertain. Some scholars have proposed identification with the region around Sin (Pelusium) on the northeastern border of Egypt, with the northern coast of Lebanon near Sinn en-Nabra, or with a place in northern Phoenicia mentioned in Assyrian inscriptions. The Sinites appear only in the genealogical lists and play no named role in biblical narrative beyond representing one of the nations that would be displaced before Israel's conquest of Canaan.
