Siphmoth

Siphmoth was one of the towns in southern Judah (the Negeb) to which David sent portions of the spoil from his raid on the Amalekites who had plundered Ziklag (1 Samuel 30:28). David sent gifts to Siphmoth and to numerous other towns in the area where he and his men had roamed — towns whose elders were his friends and who had supported him during his time as a fugitive from Saul. This distribution of spoil was both a practical gesture of alliance maintenance and a demonstration of David's fidelity to his covenant network. The site of Siphmoth is unidentified.
