Skin, Coats made of

Coats of skin were the garments God made for Adam and Eve after the Fall to clothe their nakedness: the LORD God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them (Genesis 3:21). This act of divine provision stands in contrast to their own inadequate covering of fig leaves (Genesis 3:7), and has been read by theologians as the first act of atoning sacrifice — the death of animals to cover human shame — foreshadowing the redemptive covering that would come through Christ.
