The Sons of Noah

The three sons of Noah — Shem, Ham, and Japheth — survived the flood in the ark and became the ancestors of all post-flood humanity (Genesis 9:18–19). The "Table of Nations" in Genesis 10 traces the peoples of the earth to their lines, and Noah’s prophetic blessing and curse shaped how Scripture later speaks of their descendants (Genesis 9:25–27).

The three sons

Shem — ancestor of the Semitic peoples, including the line of Abraham through which blessing would come (Genesis 11:10–26).

Ham — father of Canaan, Cush, Mizraim, and Put; his son Canaan fell under Noah’s curse (Genesis 9:22–25).

Japheth — ancestor of the maritime and northern nations, to be "enlarged" and to dwell in the tents of Shem (Genesis 9:27).
