Tabeel

Tabeel was a Persian official in Samaria who co-signed a letter to King Artaxerxes I opposing the Jewish rebuilding of Jerusalem (Ezra 4:7). The letter, written in Aramaic, accused the returned exiles of sedition and warned that a rebuilt Jerusalem would not pay taxes or toll. Artaxerxes ordered the work halted (Ezra 4:21–23). This Tabeel is distinct from Tabeal (Isa. 7:6). The name is Persian-era Aramaic, meaning "God is good."
