Taches
Concept
Taches (from Old French tache, "clasp" or "fastener") were the gold and bronze clasps used to join the curtain panels of the tabernacle into a unified structure (Ex. 26:6, 11, 33; 36:13, 18). Fifty gold taches fastened together the two sets of fine linen inner curtains of the tabernacle; fifty bronze taches joined the two sets of goat-hair curtains constituting the outer tent covering. The architectural distinction — gold for the inner sanctuary curtains, bronze for the outer — reflects the graduated holiness of the tabernacle's zones, with the inner curtains nearest the Holy of Holies made from the most precious materials.
