Tahapanes

Tahapanes (also Tahpanhes; identified with ancient Daphne) was a fortified Egyptian border city in the eastern Nile Delta. After the fall of Jerusalem in 586 B.C., Jewish refugees fled to Egypt against Jeremiah's warnings, taking Jeremiah with them to Tahpanhes (Jer. 43:7–8). Jeremiah performed a symbolic act there, burying large stones at the entrance of Pharaoh's palace and prophesying that Nebuchadnezzar would erect his throne upon them in judgment on Egypt (Jer. 43:9–13). The city had already appeared in Jeremiah (2:16) as "Noph and Tahapanes" among Egypt's cities that would bring judgment on Israel's foolish reliance on Egypt.
