Tahtim-hodshi
Place
Tahtim-hodshi was a region visited by Joab's census team during David's ill-fated numbering of the people (2 Sam. 24:6). The census party traveled from Gilead through this region as part of their northern circuit before coming to Dan and Sidon. The Hebrew text here is uncertain — some manuscripts and versions read "to the land of the Hittites, toward Kadesh" — and the location has not been identified. The passage is part of the narrative that culminates in the plague sent as divine punishment for David's pride in numbering Israel.
