Tappuah

Tappuah (meaning "apple" or "height") was a Canaanite royal city whose king Joshua defeated (Josh. 12:17). It appears in the tribal boundary descriptions as a town of the Ephraim-Manasseh border region (Josh. 16:8; 17:7–8): the land of Tappuah belonged to Manasseh, but the city itself fell within Ephraim's portion. A separate Tappuah is listed among the cities of the Judean Shephelah (Josh. 15:34). The place name also appears in 2 Kings 15:16, where Menahem's brutal campaign targeted "Tiphsah" — some manuscripts read Tappuah. The Beth-tappuah of Joshua 15:53 is yet another associated place in Judah.
