Theodotus of Ancyra

Theodotus, bishop of Ancyra (died c. 446), was an ally of Cyril of Alexandria at the Council of Ephesus (431) against Nestorius. His homilies, including comment on the infancy narratives, survive in fragments and catenae.

A staunch ally of Cyril at the Council of Ephesus (431), Theodotus defended the unity of Christ's person and the title Theotokos against Nestorius. His surviving homilies, including comment on the infancy narratives, are preserved in fragments and in the exegetical catenae, where they pass into later Gospel compilations such as the Catena Aurea.
