Tob-adonijah

Tob-adonijah was a Levite sent by King Jehoshaphat on a teaching mission throughout Judah in the third year of his reign (2 Chr. 17:8). His name means my good God or the Lord is my good master. He is listed in a company of princes, Levites, and priests dispatched with a copy of the Book of the Law to instruct the people of Judah in the requirements of the covenant.

This educational initiative represents one of Jehoshaphat's significant religious reforms, aimed at rooting out the idolatry of the previous generation and establishing covenant faithfulness among the people. Tob-adonijah's inclusion in the list of teachers reflects the Levitical mandate to serve as instructors of the law to the broader population (Deut. 33:10; Neh. 8:7-8).
