Tolaites

The Tolaites were the descendants of Tola, the eldest son of Issachar (Num. 26:23; 1 Chr. 7:1-2). They formed one of the four principal clans of the tribe of Issachar recorded in the Mosaic census lists. In the second census at the plains of Moab, the Tolaites are listed with their sub-clans, representing a significant portion of the tribe's counted population.

The Chronicles genealogy (1 Chr. 7:2) records the Tolaite clan as having 22,600 mighty warriors in the time of David — a number that reflects their continued importance within the tribal structure. The Tolaites represent the ongoing identity of Tola's lineage across the centuries from the patriarchal period through the early monarchy, illustrating the persistence of tribal genealogical organization in Israelite society.
