Ummah
Ummah (meaning: vicinity or association) was a town in the tribal allotment of Asher, listed among its border cities in Joshua 19:30. Its precise location has not been positively identified, though some have proposed sites in the Acre plain or the northern coastal region of Galilee where Asher's territory lay. The town is mentioned only in this single boundary list and plays no further role in the biblical narrative.
The Asher tribal list in Joshua 19:24–31 names twenty-two cities, of which several remain unidentified with confidence. Ummah's obscurity reflects the general challenge of locating minor Galilean settlements from this period, whose ancient names have often been replaced or lost in the subsequent centuries of occupation and settlement.
