Zabad is a name borne by several biblical figures. (1.) A son of Nathan of Judah, in the genealogy of the house of Jerahmeel (1 Chronicles 2:36–37). (2.) An Ephraimite slain by the Gathites for cattle-raiding (1 Chronicles 7:21). (3.) One of David's mighty warriors, the son of Ahlai (1 Chronicles 11:41). (4.) A conspirator who killed King Joash of Judah; he is called Jozachar in 2 Kings 12:21 and Zabad in 2 Chronicles 24:26. Three individuals named Zabad appear among those who had taken foreign wives in Ezra 10:27, 33, 43. The name means gift or endowed.
