Zachariah

Zachariah (meaning the LORD has remembered) was the son and successor of Jeroboam II as king of Israel, the fourteenth king of the northern kingdom (2 Kings 14:29; 15:8–12). He reigned only six months before being publicly assassinated by Shallum son of Jabesh at Ibleam. His death fulfilled the promise God had made to Jehu that his dynasty would continue to the fourth generation (2 Kings 10:30), which it did through Jehoahaz, Joash, Jeroboam II, and Zachariah. With his assassination, the Jehu dynasty came to an end and Israel entered a period of rapid political instability leading to its fall to Assyria in 722 BC.
