Zamzummims

The Zamzummims (also written Zuzims, Genesis 14:5) were a people of great stature who originally inhabited the land of Ammon before the Ammonites dispossessed them (Deuteronomy 2:20). They are described as a numerous and tall people like the Anakim. Deuteronomy 2:20 notes that the Ammonites called them Zamzummims, while Genesis 14:5 calls them Zuzims at Ham. Together with the Emim (dispossessed by Moab) and the Horim of Seir (dispossessed by Edom), the Zamzummims represent the pre-Israelite giants whose removal by these nations was seen as providential preparation for the peoples who would eventually become Israel's neighbors east of the Jordan.
