Zattu

Zattu is an alternate spelling of Zatthu — the head of a family among the returning exiles (Ezra 2:8; Nehemiah 7:13), with 845 or 945 members returning in the first wave under Zerubbabel (the numbers differ between Ezra and Nehemiah). Members of the family are named in Ezra 10:27 for having taken foreign wives. A Zattu appears in Nehemiah 10:14 among those who sealed the covenant of renewed obedience after Ezra's reading of the Law. The name may be related to an Akkadian or Aramaic root meaning olive or noble.
