Zebadiah

Zebadiah (meaning the LORD has endowed) is borne by nine biblical individuals. The most prominent are: (1.) A son of Asahel, nephew of Joab, who served as a military officer under Joash in the fourth month rotation (1 Chronicles 27:7). (2.) A Levite sent by Jehoshaphat to teach the Law throughout Judah (2 Chronicles 17:8). (3.) The son of Ishmael, a leader of Judah appointed by Jehoshaphat to administer civil affairs (2 Chronicles 19:11). (4.) The son of Michael, leader of 80 men from the family of Shephatiah who returned with Ezra from Babylon (Ezra 8:8). Several others of this name appear in 1 Chronicles and in the list of those with foreign wives in Ezra 10.
