Zeboim

Zeboim (also Zeboiim) is the name of two biblical locations. (1.) One of the five cities of the plain (along with Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Bela/Zoar) whose king was defeated by Chedorlaomer in the battle of the Vale of Siddim (Genesis 14:2, 8). When God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for their wickedness, Zeboim and Admah were also destroyed, while Bela (Zoar) was spared at Lot's request. Hosea 11:8 references their destruction as a measure of God's threatened judgment against Israel — yet God's love restrained him from making Ephraim like Zeboim. (2.) A town in Benjamin, resettled after the exile (Nehemiah 11:34). A valley of Hyenas (ge ha-zebo'im) in Benjamin is also mentioned in 1 Samuel 13:18.
