Ziba

Ziba was a servant of the house of Saul who came to prominence when David sought to show kindness to any surviving member of Jonathan's family for Jonathan's sake (2 Samuel 9:1–13). Ziba informed David of Mephibosheth, Jonathan's lame son, who was then brought to Jerusalem and given all the land of Saul and a permanent place at the king's table. David appointed Ziba, with his fifteen sons and twenty servants, to farm the land for Mephibosheth.

During Absalom's rebellion, Ziba met the fleeing David with provisions and made the false claim that Mephibosheth had remained in Jerusalem hoping to recover his grandfather's kingdom (2 Samuel 16:1–4). David immediately granted all Mephibosheth's property to Ziba. When David returned victorious, Mephibosheth came with a counter-narrative, and David split the property between them (2 Samuel 19:24–30) — a judgment that left the truth of Ziba's accusation unresolved in the text.
