Zichri

Zichri (meaning: that remembers; that is a man) is the name of several men in the Old Testament, mostly Benjamites and Levites. (1.) A chief of Benjamin (1 Chr. 8:19). (2.) Another Benjamite chief of the same chapter (1 Chr. 8:23). Further bearers of the name appear in 1 Chronicles 9:15 (a Levite ancestor of temple musicians), 26:25 (a Levite over the Reubenite treasuries), and 27:16 (father of the officer over Reuben). In 2 Chronicles 17:16 Zichri is the father of Amasiah, a volunteer warrior under Jehoshaphat; in 28:7 a mighty man of Ephraim named Zichri slew three of Ahaz's chief officers.

The name was evidently common in Israel across several centuries and appears among both priestly and military families. Smith and Easton list the first two Benjamite occurrences as the primary entries.
