Ziha

Ziha (meaning: brightness; whiteness; drought) is the name of two men in the books of Ezra and Nehemiah. (1.) The head of a family of Nethinim (temple servants) who returned from Babylonian exile with Zerubbabel (Ezra 2:43; Neh. 7:46). (2.) A ruler or overseer among the Nethinim in Jerusalem after the return (Neh. 11:21).

The Nethinim were a class of temple servants assigned to assist the Levites in the lower duties of the sanctuary. They were numerous enough to appear in the return lists under their clan heads, and Ziha evidently represented a significant family group among them. Whether the two men named Ziha are related or the same individual at different points in his life cannot be determined from the text.
