Zimran

Zimran (meaning: song; singer; vine) was the first-named of the six sons born to Abraham by Keturah, his wife after the death of Sarah (Gen. 25:2; 1 Chr. 1:32). The six sons — Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah — became ancestors of Arab peoples of the eastern and southern regions. Abraham sent them eastward with gifts, away from Isaac, before his death.

Zimran's descendants are not further identified in Scripture. Some early commentators connected the name with a region or people in northwestern Arabia, but the identification is uncertain. Zimran stands at the head of the Keturite line, distinct from both the Ishmaelie and the Ishmaelite genealogies, representing another strand of Abrahamic descent.
