Zipporah

Zipporah (meaning: beauty; trumpet; mourning — i.e., "little bird") was a daughter of Reuel (Jethro), priest of Midian, and the wife of Moses (Ex. 2:21). Moses married her after fleeing Egypt and defending Jethro's daughters at a well. She bore him two sons, Gershom and Eliezer.

Zipporah plays a striking role in the difficult passage of Exodus 4:24–26, where the Lord threatened Moses on the journey back to Egypt and Zipporah circumcised their son and touched Moses's feet with the foreskin, declaring "You are a bridegroom of blood to me." This averted the divine threat. When Moses later led the Israelites out of Egypt, Zipporah and her sons, who had apparently returned to Midian (Ex. 18:2–6), were brought back to him by Jethro at the mountain of God. Her subsequent fate is not recorded.
